Request for Proposals: Website Development

Michigan United and Michigan People’s Campaign seek proposals from creative and forward-thinking individuals, organizations or firms for the development of a new website for each organization.


About Michigan United: Michigan United, 501(c)3 nonprofit, is a broad, statewide coalition working to reform our broken immigration system, protect our environment and end mass incarceration. We develop the leadership of our members to eradicate the root causes of racial and economic injustice. 


About Michigan People’s Campaign: Michigan People’s Campaign, a 501(c)4 nonprofit, is a statewide organization that is building a movement to put people and the planet before profits, forge a more just and sustainable future, foster participatory democracy at every level, create an economy that works for the many and a society that dismantles racism while uplifting our common humanity. 


Overview/Goals: In consultation with the key stakeholders at the organizations, the website developer(s) will produce a modern new design and backend for the and domains. The new websites should be easy to use and aesthetically attractive to volunteers, current members, prospective members, and potential donors, with backends that are easily updatable and accessible to staff members. They should compliment the organizations’ new logos, for which the organizations have issued a separate RFP


Functionality Requirements for Websites:

  • Wordpress content management system 

  • Membership portal 

  • Intuitive navigation

  • Clean and attractive design

  • Necessary content imported from current site

  • Michigan United sections: Home, Who We Are, What We Do, Legal Services, Get Involved, News & Media (news articles, press releases, blog, videos, podcast), Contact, Donate

  • Michigan People’s Campaign sections: Home, Who We Are, What We Do, Volunteer, News & Media (news articles, press releases, blog, videos), Contact, Donate

  • Social media integration (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, StreamYard)

  • Every Action/NGP integration 

  • Google Analytics integration

  • Artificial intelligence integration 

  • Live-streaming integration 

  • Email & SMS sign-up form

  • Contact form

  • Mobile site optimization


Proposals should include:

  • Description/Qualifications

    • Include contact name, email, and phone number

    • Description of you/your agency including approach/philosophy

    • If the applicant is a firm, include organization structure, office location(s)

    • Examples of past work, both web and graphic design

    • Two current references

  • Proposed timeline (Desired completion date: Fall 2023)

  • Project budget

  • Rate card

  • Staff training Proposal 


Desired Qualifications:

  • Web design and development experience

  • Graphic design experience

  • Understanding of the difference between 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 organizations

  • Experience working within social justice movements

  • Strong commitment to social, racial, economic, and environmental justice


Total Budget: $8,000 - $10,000


Submission instructions: Please submit an electronic copy of your complete proposal to by June 11, 2023. We expect to evaluate proposals and make a selection within three weeks following the deadline.
